Darryl Nirenberg Announces Candidacy for Alexandria City Council
“It is time to bring common sense government back to our City”
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Darryl Nirenberg, a 22 year resident of Alexandria, today filed to run for City Council as a Republican.
“Alexandria is a great place. But in recent years, our city government has lost its way. Adult housing on school grounds. Road diets. More density in the midst of a pandemic. None of this makes sense,” said Darryl.
“My name is Darryl Nirenberg and I am running for City Council because it is time to bring common sense government back to Alexandria. It is time for a City Council that focuses on quality of life issues, that takes account of diverse viewpoints and that seeks consensus on major decisions.
“Alexandria is a crossroads. Do we want a government that divides us with controversial policies, or one which works to bring us together as a community?”
In calling for a return to common sense government, Nirenberg cited divisive policies promoted by the city government, including efforts to:
build adult housing on school grounds;
eliminate traffic lanes on major roadways;
use tax dollars to increase density;
bulldoze Chinquapin Park;
raise taxes when households and businesses are struggling through the pandemic.
